2020 Frichette “Sashay” Reserve Syrah, Red Mountain ($49)
Sourced from the Red Heaven Vineyard, this Syrah boasts a deep ruby-crimson color and an intense nose of wild fruits - blackberries, mountain blueberries, black currants, - with scents of black roses, sweet tobacco, cedar, sagebrush, olive tapenade, violets and spiced incense. The flavors are mouth encompassing, with copious black and blue fruits that are infused with black licorice, cacao, dark roast coffee beans and scorched earth. The saturation continues on the back with macerated berries, roasted nuts, mocha, crème de cassis, blueberry preserves and charcoal followed by a lingering firm yet sweetish ripe tannin finish. 19+/20 points
